A calico hamster is also called a tortoiseshell hamster. Tortoiseshell is the proper terminology for a hamster that is black and yellow. These hamsters have yellow spots over a different colour. This other colour will alter the shade of the hamster’s yellow spots – darker base colours will produce darker yellow hues. Since only female hamsters have two X chromosomes, (and hence two Yellow gene loci), only females can be tortoiseshell. Male hamsters are either Yellow or non Yellow.
Due to the fast turnonver of these pets, it is difficult to provide the exact date of birth.
The babies are mostly in between 7-11 Weeks of Age.
The color and gender is not guaranteed.
